Cala Alcaufar Discover Menorca, a Biosphere Reserve

Cala Alcaufar, Menorca

Cala Alcaufar

Surrounded by charming traditional whitewashed houses and wharfs, this stunning cove located in the Sant Lluís district on the south coast of Menorca transmits a special charm thanks to its friendly seaside atmosphere. The water is calm and protected by rocky outcrops and islets.

Although Alcaufar is still mainly a summer retreat for many families from Maó and Sant Lluís, it was here that the first tourist hotel in Menorca was built, the Xuroy.

Camí de Cavalls of Menorca

Camí de Cavalls

Only one side of the bay is built up, while the other side is dominated by a defence tower built in the 18th century during the Spanish occupation, which was restored in 1994.

You can easily walk along the shoreline from Alcaufar by following Section 19 of the historic bridle path Camí de Cavalls. This track goes all the way from Punta Prima to Cala Sant Esteve.
